Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I have generated a set of surfaces by distributing points along four lines. I now have a set of surfaces which I want to calculate the overall area of. How can do this?

I know this must be a bit boring but I have just started with grasshopper. I want to learn how to use it to numerically assess different design options.

I have started by looking at simple tower. I want to know how to compare different options quickly. Is there an add on I am missing?

If anyone has a simple gh file showing how to generate such numerically descriptions of different design options. I would very much appreciate a look at them.

plug the areas into a mass addition component This is found on the scalar tab in the utility section. (do not confuse with the vector mass addition)

try flattening the input by right clicking on the mass addition component

Hi ronyDF,

Be careful with using the approximate dimensions of a surface for calculating the areas. It will only work on rectangular surfaces.

@Bodhisattva I've also included an illustration showing the differences between multiple paths and flatten paths.
