It's [Point On Curve].

Essentially it automatically reparameterizes any incoming curve to a domain of 0 To 1.

The curve parameter of "0.5" that you see in the screen capture then corresponds to the midpoint of the curve.

[Point On Curve] is useful as slider to quickly get any point along a curve from start (0) to end (1).

may you enlighten me on the usefulness of the valu list component that only goes form 1 to 4?

It's not useful until you customize it with your own presets (right-click > edit...).

[Value List] is a way to limit user input to a discrete number of specific values, like a drop-down field in an online form.
