Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Can someone please help me with this... I'm really wondering if this is a GH problem or I'm doing something wrong... (or going crazy, but that's besides the point)

I have tried to problem shoot this as much as I can.  What I have is a group of curves (Layer 01) which I'm trying to RUnion and then Fillet.  I have put all the curves into one Curve component and then plugged it into the RUnion and I get nothing coming out of RUnion.

The blue outlines are pertaining to the whole and the red are me trying to trouble shoot... but, before I tried trouble shooting particular curves within the group, I tried to explode and join them... which helped with "most" of them but still gave me some funky stuff and left others out.

Getting back to the red outlines where I was trouble shooting... I was trying to single out certain curves that may be throwing everything out of wack.. well, the two curves circled in red in the first image above seemed to be doing it until I tried to RUnion them separately from the rest, which ended up working

I have also checked Planarity (if that's a word) and all are Planar... I also tried inputting the XY Plane into the RUnion... both of which did not give me any different results

Finally, I have imported all of these curves from CAD... (I've had problems with curves imported from CAD in the past, does anyone know why that could be?)  but I had redrawn the lines and used the ones I have redrawn in Layer 02 and this still doesn't seem to help.....

EDIT:I forgot to add that I am using Rhino 4 SR9 and GH 0.9.0014

I'm not a newbie and "thought" I knew GH fairly well..... any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

I'm running on rhino 5, so that may have something to do with it, but it's working fine for me.  Have you tried projecting your curves to the XY plane before you do the RUnion?

Thanks for the reply David... I did ProjectToCPlane in Rhino, but hadn't tried that in GH.. so good idea.... Although I just tried and it didn't help.... :(

I was wondering if this was a Rhino/GH version problem... I have Rhino 5 at home and Rhino 4 at work... I'm going to try this when I get home later tonight.... Again thanks for the reply

Hi Jason. I'm working on a similar project and getting the same error as you got. Region Union works on most of my curves but leaves about 2% out, seemingly at random. Did you ever find a solution to your problem? As I suspect the solution is probably the same for me... I'm working in Rhino 5.

Many thanks,

Johanna

Johanna... I'm sorry I ended up going a different design route before I solved the problem

I'm sure you've moved on from this about 8 months ago, but I was running into the same problem, and was able to solve it by simply adding a finer degree of tolerance in my Rhino Units (from .001 to .0001) then refreshing the .gh document. In case anyone is still looking, this might work....

thank you, still a useful hint

Its work!

Thank you a lot!

oh my god mark! this really works!
