Do you think Intel Core i7-7740X @ 4.30GHz is currently the best processor for Grasshopper? If not please tell me how found best processor.

Best overall or best-per-monetary-unit?

For Rhino5 and GH1 the advice is to choose a high clockspeed per core. That usually means fewer cores. To get a future-proof processor you're better off getting more cores, even if the individual cores are somewhat slower.

I honestly don't know. I'm running an i7-6700K @4GHz and I doubt you can get something that will run Rhino5+GH1 significantly faster. Marginally; sure, significantly; no. However once multi-threading becomes more and more common having more cores will make a huge difference. Note that GH1 for RhinoWIP already has a bunch of multi-threaded components and we'll probably be adding more in the future.

Absolutely agree with Tom. In my experience any optimisations in the algorithms far exceed any possible speed increases from better hardware.

So many times after finding a different approach or asking in the forum, revealed ways of optimising to be multiples faster. Like when I learned some basic vector maths.

I have found that in Grasshopper more than in most other "programming tools", there are always several ways to achieve the same thing, with sometimes vastly different solution times.

Use the timing widget of GH to find out which nodes take longest and find a way to optimise around those. Sometimes all it needs is a fresh start from a blank slate.

If you are already at the absolute limit I guess the i7-7700K or even i5-7600K are probably your best bet, since they can be easily overclocked, although again I doubt it would be worth the effort and risk.

Can you tell me more about timming widget? Can you recomend some plugins I wrote down "timming" on food4hino but i have probem to select something...

Ah, sorry, its actually called profiler. You find it in Display > Canvas Widgets > Profiler. In the settings you can also set the minimum solution time for each component before it shows the timing. It will also show you in % how much of the total solution time is caused by each component and it will also turn red if its a significant percentage. That way its very easy to find your bottlenecks.

Agreed. But I think thats more due to a lot of newcomers in the forum. As many common questions have been answered in the forum and the software has less and less bugs, the forum would naturally fill more with "beginners" questions in terms of what and how they ask in the forum. Hope that makes sense. Just a theory/wishful thinking.

I want to do an algorithm like autodesk "slicerforFusion"(old 1,2,3 make) but i try make radial waffling which looks like a fan. But my algorithms have 10.5 sec lag, and it is not working soo pretty like autodesk app. But i will fix this ;)
