algorithmic modeling for Rhino
hello everyone,
I m trying to make a structural analysis of a structure that I created in grasshopper. But, when I run it, the GSA gives an error as 'separate structures found in model'. I have checked what I defined wrongly, but I couldn't find what it is. Is there anyone who can help me??? I ve enclosed the file.
thx,,

Gsa won't automatically detect intersections and split elements, so there's no connectivity with members at any points other than extreme corners.
I've provided a component in structdrawrhino that can help with this. Refer attached.
I assume the z restraint at every node is intentional?
Hope this helps,
Jon
thanks Jon, but i couldn't open the file because of grasshopper IO error. do you know how to solve it????
I added that component and flatten the curves input as you said, but GSA does not open the file this time. you may see the attached file.
Hi Feray,
Sorry, I didn't see your reply. What is the error message you get now? I've opened your attached file and it works fine for me. I'm happy to assist further.
Pete, thanks for reminding me of how to achieve the same result using native GSA, I'd forgotten about that operation.
Cheers,
Jon
Once the model is in GSA you can select all the elements and run the Sculpt > 1D Element Operations > Connect 1D Elements... command.
If you still cannot get it down to one structure, open the graphical wizard (double click on the graphical window) you can select Highlight Edges, which will show you where structures stop and thus give you a clue where the problem remains
