Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am trying to rotate a group of items (several lines that all come from one grasshopper button) but when I try to rotate them with a series of rotation angles it rotates each item individually.

for example, if there are twelve lines that I want to rotate all together and I want to rotate them to three different angles,
the first line rotates the first angle
the second line rotates the second angle
and all the rest of the lines (lines 3-12) rotate the third angle

do you know how to group items together so that you can perform one operation on all of them? I tried to change the button to cross reference but that did not solve the problem.
thank you!!!!

It should work with cross reference...
Maybe you could upload your definition we will be more helpful...
the cross reference is not working for me in the second step.
the file first wants to move all the lines together several times and then rotate them several times. when I use the cross reference it works on the move (I think) but the rotate still doesn't work.*

I am either not knowing when to set things to cross reference and/or I have no idea where to flatten the data tree. I read up on this and I still can't figure out how to flatten things or even whether or not that is relevant for my application.

* I also want to cull pattern the rotated pieces so that I can mirror every other set of lines. I did not include that in this file for simplicity sake.

hi laura

you should read in the primer about data trees and you will solve your problem
so in this case flatten your tree and it will work fine
do I need to be flattening my tree at every operation? I want to move a set of lines several times and then rotate each of those moved lines a separate angle. the cross reference helped with the move but not the rotate.
