algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all,
Would anyone know how to add the ground reflectance for the external environment. I've been playing around with the geometry and glazing, all done in grasshopper, before applying it to a real world project. I realised I havent taken into account the reflectance of the external ground.
I have attached the GH file if anyone would be able to point out how and where I integrate the reflectance of the external ground into honeybee.

Add the ground with the HB_EPContextSurf component, put a radiance material (usually it is considered an average reflectance of 0.35, 0.2 for asphalt) and add them to the HBObjects of the simulation
Any idea how I could do that using ladybug? Atm, I just would like to know how much radiation falls on a context geometry. Direct, diffuse and the ones reflected from the ground.
As far as I know Ladybug does not consider the reflected radiation from the context, as it doesn't ask for material specifications. Which are just taken by honey bee. Therefore, even if it considers some of it...what I doubt, I won't be accurate as it doesn't have the information to calculate the amount of it that is reflected neither how it is reflected. Mostapha and Chris are the best to answer to this.
You can always analyse the direct and diffuse solar radiation that you get from the sun and the sky and then test with the ray tracing if you may have a problem due to reflections from the context.
However, I highly recommend you to continue this discussion in the group of honey bee and ladybug, there are incredible people there that will answer your questions better than me
Thank you Julia for your prompt reply! Yes I kinda thought so. I would perhaps start doing that when I do my daylight analysis later on.

Don't worry, I have a simulation running that has my laptop completely blocked, so I can gossip here or play the solitaire (yey!)
It depends a lot on what you are analysing. Honestly I find the ray tracing tool great for selecting the periods to analyse, as it is very fast. If you detect the problematic periods you can run a point in time glare analysis. If you are more concerned about temperatures check the impact with different context materials. Don't know, just some ideas.
hehe! All you said might make sense perhaps in a few days. I am fairly new to this software but getting the hang of it. Talk about frozen computers lol.
I did though post another question in the ladybug discussion forum so let us see when the grasshopper pros jump in :)
