Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I've got stocked with this problem for a while, any help is appreciated:

How can I make a free form gridshell?!

In the attached file, I tried to make grids by geodesic component but I need them as "lines" instead of "curves".

Any idea?

Thanks a lot!!!!

You could sort the points differently to get skewed intersection curves.  You can explode the polylines to get individual lines.  I didn't take the time to include the points along the edge curves.

Thanks Chris for the help, but in your case you have the same number of segments in the geodesic curves (9), what if each on them has different number of segments like the attached file?!

ALSO i need to have geodesic lines instead of curves! ANY COMMENTS? Thanks a lot..

I'm not sure I understand the second part of your question.  I took two sets of geodesic curves (opposite edges) and intersected them and then ran polylines through the intersection points.  You can use adjacent edges instead of opposite edges to create the geodesic lines.  If you want the individual line segments then you just need to explode the polylines.  If that's not what you want you'll have to explain further. As far as I can tell the definition provides geodesic lines and not curves.

I used a simple shape to generate the grid so that I could create a working definition.  I found that with some surface shapes the geodesic component did strange things and by that I mean things such that I couldn't understand what was happening and hence couldn't resolve into a working definition.  I'll take a look at your files later today.
