algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello everyone,
I am currently working on my MEng thesis on grid shell structures and how these can be designed and modelled using Grasshopper.
I am using Grasshopper, Kangaroo, Karamba and Galapagos.
My question is about how to fix the length of the elements, or how to constrain the length to a given strain (e.g. +-2% of the initial length). I basically would like to see the structure deform while keeping the length of the elements (the distance between the nodes that are connected) constant as to simulate the timber beams in the structure.
Thank you all for your help. :)

You forgot to attach your definition
Sorry Peter, I am new at this.
Do you mean I should attach the .gh file? Thanks :)
Hi Clara,
Indeed: is the Rule N7 on this Noble Forum > help me > on something that I've tried to do it [but I need some hints to finish it].
Of course there's always exceptions if that something requires the cavalry from step 0.
Tough rule ... but it's a tough life anyway, he he.
So attach your def (the solution is not that difficult).
I'm interested to see the work, where are the files?
Me too!
I have the same problem : build structure by the same elements and deform because of it. Clara Torres please attach it. Maybe together will be easier. :)
Welcome to
