algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello all,

I need to distort a grid very much like the attached image.

Julia M is trying to do the same thing http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/grid-distortion-in-grassh... but the replies ain't helping to achieve the desired outcome, or maybe I just don't know how.

Please help. Thanks a bunch.

take a look at the 3rd,4th,and5th example on this page. http://livecomponents-ny.com/page/4/?blogsub=confirming. Try it out then attach interpolatecurve to the list of points, then also connect the list of points into a flipmatrix component and plug the flipmatrix component into another interpolate curve component, this will result in a curve grid. For multiple attractors just repeat the attractor part of the definition and calculate their sum with either min or max. then use that data to influence the point movement. Keep trying.
attache e of end to flip matrix at plug that into the other interpolate curve, that will get you grid lines in the other direction. can you upload your file?

Hi,

Is it posible to make grid with several attracting points???

Pls help

First option..??anything simplier?

with the more recent addition of the "extremes component" multiple attractors are pretty easy to do. http://formularch.blogspot.com/2012/03/gh-point-attract-repel.html

here is what you are looking to do, using extremes.  if u want to control each attractor differently then copy all the attraction math (as you had before) and use extremes after the minimums.

Thanks, i tried this

I cant get lines that have nice flow and form,

like this:

I got some nasty lines, is there some other way to get something similar?

i don't have time at the moment, but i did just open your file quickly, it seems you went back to the way you were doing it before, this is why, I see you are not using extremes correctly either as you only have one input plugged in when it required 2+.

Yes, im not sure i now how to use it, i hope it will make batter

I hope you will have time to help me with this!, thanks!!

Check this out, i played with your definition and figure out extremes..i got this

It is ok, but it will better and faster if i can put surface (behind grid) with random points, select all points for extrems, but could i set random values for them??? So i wont get same size circles.
Somehow set those three sliders to some kind of range?

Any idea how?

Other idea is if i can control single circles, or sets of few, like i tryied.

Thanks!!

hi MilanK,

very interesting work.
i just want to know, if you've worked on it?
i have achieved a result, where the lines look something
harmonious, but there is certainly a better solution.
