Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I was wondering if Kangaroo could help me find out how something will hang from a pivot point or bar. Specifically I design jewellery and I have a collection of asymmetrical designs and was wondering if there is someway to find out if they hang straight from a certain point?

I could provide Rhino files if that helps.

I assume I would have a plane that would exert a pulling force (aka gravity) on the solid that is held from a specific point.

Usually the bale (part that the chain goes through) slides on a jump-ring that is fixed to a pendant. What I am trying to find out is if the bale hangs straight, how will the pendant hang if it is not symmetrical?

Thanks, Randy

Hi Randy,

I don't think you actually need Kangaroo for this, provided your objects are rigid - as you can calculate the center of mass directly in Grasshopper. See this discussion here: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/kangaroo/forum/topics/solid-s-ce...

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the link, I will check into that.
