Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi

How can I split a Brep in grasshopper the same way as the split function works in Rhino? (get the parts between the cutting planes instead of the results by each cutting frame).

See attached grasshopper file.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the quick reply and help.

I am not familiar with C#. So I hope there is grasshopper function(s) to solve this issue.

I am missing the foreship. Any idea how to fix that?

Sorting the cutting planes on the X value is easy. But that does not solve the problem of the missing foreship.

Hi Tom,

Thank a lot for this working solution. I will use this.

I hope that someone else will help me with a pure and simple grasshopper solution.

I do not understand why Grasshopper functions like Split work different from the Rhino equivalent. I hope that (in the future) this will change to reduce the learning curve of grasshopper.

Cheers,

Bas

Hi Tom,

In hope you can help me again.

I now have a missing in between part.

The split function in rhino works fine when I bake the input in Rhino.

Bas

Hi,

I now solved the problem with grasshopper like the example attached.

I still wish that a Split function that works like the split in Rhino will be included in Grasshopper.

Cheers

I don't get it why important rhino functions are not available for grasshopper, now grasshopper will be integrated in V6.

Dear Tom, (or others)

I used your C# version and it works. Thanks! But now..... I have a new issue and that has to do with the grasshopper tree. The C# module flattens the tree, while a normal split will provide a tree with branches with all items separated by the split.

The example attached shows that a split at the aft most cutting plane results in to separate items (in this simple case). How can I have these in the same branch based on the split? See also the below picture.

Hi,

I found the following solution myself in the grasshopper style. I hope it works.
