algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi, having a issue running out of memory ..... though my laptop is 2.5ghz   i5 with 12 gb ram. Wanted to know if RHINO is set to access limited RAM... just wondering if this is  normal or is there any way RHINO can be made to make use of more RAM to do large number of point clouds operations.

Also please suggest any economical upgrades or tips.

Rhino 4 is limited to 4GB of memory

I believe Rhino 5 will use all that is available.

Rhino5 comes in both 32 and 64 bit flavours. If you use the 32-bit version, then 2GB (sometimes 3, there's an OS switch) is all you get. If you use the 64-bit version then you can use up to 8TB, but that's a theoretical upper limit. The amount of memory you actually get is the RAM + Pagefile size. Typically somewhere in the 10GB~20GB range.

Memory allocation does not depend solely on physical RAM, Windows will start paging whenever physical RAM is full. It will get slower but you can still use more memory.

Ohh ...  i get it . unfortunately I m still using 32 bit. Thank u Wizards.. :)

But are they any ways 64 bit capabilities can be bought over to my 32 bit machine.??

Thank u.

No.

I think all i5 are 64 bits processors.

So using Rhino5 64bits (and WinD'oh! 64bits) should do the trick.
