Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am recieving an error message when Grasshopper loads related to Kangaroo (see attached screenshot).  This is happening on both of my computers.  Things appear to work in Kangaroo, although I havn't tested everything.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Alec

Hi Alec,

can you expand the messages and post the contents as well?

Hi David,

There is no modeling related to this.  I get this error anytime I load Grasshopper whether I have a file open in Rhino or a blank new model space.  The order of events is (these are all the most recent versions, I have been doing this all in the last few days on both computers, with the same result.

1) I installed Rhino on my computer, works fine

2) I installed Grasshopper, it loaded and works fine as well.

3) Then I installed Kangaroo (copying the two files into the Components Folder)

4) I exited out of both grasshopper and Rhino.

5) Opened up Rhino.

6) Typed Grasshopper, it loaded, then came up with error on the screen shot attached. If I close the error everything seems to work okay in Grasshopper and the Kangaroo toolbar is there. This happens everytime I open grasshopper.

I'm not sure what this error is, or if it is actually affecting the program or not.  Hope this clarifies the problem better for you.

Alec

I meant click on the arrows next to the errors to actually see the error message. Or use the Copy As Text.... button to get all the information in the window.

David,

Oh, right, my bad. I'm new to grasshopper.  Please see the new screen shot below.

Thanks for the help,

Alec

Hi Alec,

Could it be that there is some version of the Kangaroo dll somewhere on your computer which is not unblocked ?

For some reason related to the assembly resolver that I don't fully understand, it seems that extra copies or earlier versions of the file can cause problems, even if they are not located in your GH components folder (eg in downloads).

maybe repairing your rhino could help if you have SR5 + GH 0.90061 ?

"Repair" Install Rhino:

Go to "Windows Control Panel", then "Programs and Features", then find "Rhinoceros 5 (64-bit)" and "Rhinoceros", select and "Repair".

I had not the same error as yours, but this helped on my computer after restarting rhino  =)

That should only fix the RHI recognition problem. It shouldn't affect anything already installed.

I have the same problem with Kangaroo. Only one verison worked normally. Unfortunately I do not remeber, which combination of Grasshopper release and Kangaroo realesed worked togheter in proper way. I have just updated the Grasshopper and Kangaroo and the problem has come back....

Have you already any solution for this error?

That is funny, I have just added the older verion of the Kangaroo (0085) to Componets Folder (but I did not remove the lastest version). There is another error message (of course) but the Kangaroo Engine button, which was lost with ealier bug, is back in Grasshopper :)

I encounter the same problem when I install Kangaroo, and what I did is exactly the same process as Alec did, except I use 0.90070 version of Grasshopper.

Are the .dll and .gha both unblocked, and no extra copies saved elsewhere on your computer?

Hello Daniel

I Searched my computer for files named kangaroo and there are None, anyway I still have this problem...
