Grasshopper for Mac? Any news?

Since you are using your computer as a tool, try a more practical rather than emotional aproach to what software you decide to install in your computer, or else it might hurt your productivity.

 

It would be nice to know from other mac users: has anyone recently managed to get an architecture degree without using windows? If so, what software did you use? Were there any advantages?

well, if you're saying that to get an architecture degree you need to have great projects and great productivity, you need to come to brasil. Here, you can get and arch degree with hand drawings only. so that's not the point....

there are some friends of mine ( that are really attached to the modernism movement and don't need any hardcore modeling software [but a fell use maya]) that use mac that get good grades with vectoworks, skectup, and illustrator.

But Processing for mac, Rhino for Mac and Maya are there  also....

But i totally agree with you, no emotional approach when you tall about freedom of productivity...

I have a Mac myself, and i had to install windows... i hurts when i open windows, but it's worth when i finish my projects.....

Yes, I assumed the more common case in Europe were students do most of the work on a computer.

 

I'm missing an answer to my last question. Are there any advantages of limiting yourself to those applications? You have to keep in mind there are many other inconvinences of using a mac that some people might not think about. There is less help available online (less tutorials, less documentation), there are fewer small apps/plugins that you might eventualy need, bugs take longer to find, fix and release.

 

Why does it hurt to open windows?

 

Although not required for the arch degree in some countries, I wonder how many tools are there for analysis (structural, energy, HVAC).
