Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am, correction, was working on a definition until. I received the grasshopper display error:
An exception was thrown into the drawing pipeline:
Source System.Drawing:
Type: Out of Memory.

The display will be disabled to prevent.... and so on.

I did save another file and restart with the same error reoccurring.
I have restarted the machine, all the basics, with no luck.
It has 3GB of RAM available and when it crashes it is only using 620MB of available RAM according to the task manager.
Is there a way to to change the value of RAM available to RHINO and Grasshopper?

Also I have noticed, it taking an increasing long time to calculate changes I make though my 4 processor cores are sitting almost idle. Capping at about 26%. Is there a reason why Grasshopper does not expand out to take over more space?

Hi Michael,

Display errors I get from Windows are almost always masked as "out-of-memory" errors. They have nothing to do with memory at all, there's simply a crash in the drawing routines somewhere. Please mail me the file that is causing problems so I can debug it.

Regarding your quad-core, Rhino and Grasshopper are not multi-threaded applications. (Very few apps actually are). Therefore I can only use 1 of your cores which equals about 25% of a quad-core machine.

These are the the files that have been crashing...

Note:
I use a lot of wireless receivers to keep the deffinition clean, because I need to present this to a crowd that is less technically inclined and he cleaner it looks the better chance they will under stand it.

I was also wondering if there was a way to change the default color from red to say blue without having to bake the geometry?

Thank you for looking at this for me.

Thanks for posting it Michael,

At the moment you can only change the colour of preview geometry by using a [Custom Preview] component (Params, Special)

Would that be part of a VB code?
If so could you give me a simple example of the code?

If its to complex, then I would just like to add to the wish list, a drop box for preview color, even if its only a hand full of web safe color.

Thanks Again,

Hi,
I try your files and i dont have any problem... I play with the sliders, open the vb.net editor, preview some components, etc...

core 2 duo 2ghz, 4 gb ram, windows 7 64bit.

you are using a lot the vb.net component, maybe that required some external dlls that are damaged? (just guessing...), or maybe its more "simple" and you have a windows problem like virus, using a old version of grasshopper, rhino, etc...
