Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi!

As many others, i'm redicilously new to both this forum and grasshopper.. I've had tutorials in the basics, but further than that i'm like a child in a candy store when it comes to rhino, but like a child doing astronomy in grasshopper (but not totally useless..)

I've been told that you can post things here, in hope of getting help, so here I go..

I want this geometry (please see attached, all different kinds of home made annotations)

Also, I want all types of variations on this geometry since it is an principle model of an adaptable form work for continuous casting concrete:

1 Variation of numbers of of cast segments.
2 Different distances between the two layers called "concrete cast".
3 Sizes of radius (basically different sizes of the whole thing in x-y).
4 Different curvatures for the "cast segments".
5 Different lengths of extrusion.
6 Variations in x-y between the two levels.

(is this even possible?)

Anyone who would like/have the time to help me with this definition?
It would be more appreciative than you can ever imagine, because this dude in my class just told me it would take 3 hours.. (I might just not believe him)

Anyway, THANK YOU!!!

Hi Thomas,

Do you want a definition that does the thing or would you like to learn how it works!

case 1

have a look at this!

http://www.liftarchitects.com/journal/2009/3/25/the-grasshopper-pri...

case 1

This is possible to do after having done case 0.

Please don' take me wrong, this came up in a post that re-emerge (after one year)a couple of days ago and of course we are here to help but not necessarily to do it for you! sorry 8)

Cheers

Evert

edit( I was talking to my self of course)
Hi Evert, and thanks for you're reply!

I've only been in this forum for about 3 hours, so i have no idea of how things work here.. I'm trying to figure out how to do, so I basically just wanted ANY kind of advise..

Haven't gotten really far..! haha

But thanks a lot =o) Iæll try to find some tutorials concerning some of what I'm trying to do!

Best!
This is how I would do it:

1) drop a circle component and add a slider to the radius input, leave the origin at 0,0,0

2) drop a polygon component, set the number of sides to 5, attach an slider to the size length and again leave the origin to 0,0,0

3)drop n offset component, connect the output c form the polygon to the input c of the offset and attach an slider to the offset value, leave the plane as it is

4) drop a fillet slider and attach an slider to the fillet radius, set the c output from the polygon as input

5) drop a Z vector and attach an slider to the number

6) drop an extrude component, set the circle, offset curve and filleted polygon as inputs and attach the Z vector to the extrude direction.

7) the slider will give you the parameters to play with.

Something like that, the enclosed should get you started!

I hope this helps

Cheers and sorry! hasn't been the best of days

You are amazing..!

Hope your day lightens up and that you get a revenge-weekend!

Thank you!
Thanks!
In any case I would really advise you to read the primer is really good stuff.
Evert
At this point i'm just bothering you, but I'm pretty easily impressed by myself, so have a look:

(attached)

Managed to do this by your steps!
THANK YOU.. Saved my pin-up!
sorry, here it is..
