Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Minor but important update to 0.8.0008. This release fixes three bugs, two of them rather serious:

  • Curve Offset was completely hosed deep down. Seems to be working a lot better now.
  • Text Panel text would fade out over time when the zoom dropped below 80%.
  • One-Over-X component would consistently return the highest possible Integer or Floating point number.

Download the new release from the usual place.

If you didn't see the What's New list for 0.8.0008 you can read it on this post.

David, Thanks for the hard work,

However, the sliders are so horrible and cumbersome now, we used to be able to quickly highlight the number and set it manually...now it seems we have to scroll to the desired number to set up a slider.....can you please simply add back the highlight option so we don't have to scroll to a number. thanks!ps, i also might not be doing it right :)

Hi Rob,

you can set the value either by dragging the slider, scroll the tumblers, or click once in either the slider or the tumbler and just start typing. You could also double click the slider and the tumbler to show the text input directly.

Hi,

Are there known bugs in the CurveOffset component (and OffsetCurveOnSurface)?

If so, what is to avoid or important to know?

I am currently using Rh5x64 build 2011-04-13 and gh0.8.0007 considering to switch to 0.8.0009 today.

It sounded like there are issues with offset components currently.

Cheers

Peter

There are several issues with Curve Offsets. The algorithm we use in Rhino has been designed to be used with the Offset command which requires a specific mouse-pick. I only supply an offset distance and as such it's possible that portions of the offset curve are entirely missing. It's also possible the offset is just bogus if the offset distance is larger than the curvature or the local size of the base curve.

Finally, there was a serious crash bug in the SDK function, which I fixed last week. We delayed last weeks Rhino5 WIP so we never shipped it except as part of the Grasshopper 'fake SDK'.
