Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

An update is available for download. This release fixes some rather serious issues and has a few minor new features.

Fixes:

  • Opening a Grasshopper file would solve it twice, this is fixed.
  • Voronoi 3D component would result in invalid breps in Rhino5, this is fixed.
  • Rectangle and Polygon components did not have a default value for radius, this is fixed.
  • Events from Rhino were sometimes handled during solutions, resulting in a breakpoint message, this is fixed.
  • Persistent data saved by Grasshopper 0.9.0006 and earlier would not deserialize correctly, this is fixed.
  • Face Vertices component didn't work, this is fixed.

New features:

  • Added an Ungroup item to the Edit menu.Components from the Maths.Boolean panel have been moved into the Operators dropdown.
  • Added Create Matrix component (Maths.Matrix panel).
  • Added Display Matrix component (Maths.Matrix panel).
  • Added Decompose Matrix component (Maths.Matrix dropdown).
  • Added Invert Matrix component (Maths.Matrix dropdown).
  • Added Transpose Matrix component (Maths.Matrix dropdown).
  • Added Swap Columns component (Maths.Matrix dropdown).
  • Added Swap Rows component (Maths.Matrix dropdown).
  • Added Tree Statistics component (Sets.Tree dropdown).
  • Parameter options have been grouped in parameter pop-up menus.
  • Angle parameters now accept values in degrees when enabled in the popup menu.

Thanks again David:)

Can I request a "2timesPi" component? (I need it all the time)
Somehow my UO seems slow to me... here's the icon allready;)

You are asking for Tau

Very interesting reply Richard, thanks :) I like this 'one-turn' idea. I'll try working with Tau, and see what I prefer. I'm not changing my request for now though.
B.t.w. I made a new 2timesPi UO (thanks Philipp), which is a lot faster than the previous one. (expression instead of Fx component...~zzz)

David,

Nice updates! We have the Data Lab this weekend and will be cataloging and sharing any issues we find. A couple of quick things I noticed:

-Gradient: Still has the issue I noted before about selecting "Grips" to redefine color values; however, I found a workaround - If you double click the grip on the Gradient Object on the canvas, the editor opens with that "Grip" selected. If you change the color fields (don't move the "Grip" yet), the editor won't disappear.

-Vector Display: If you disconnect the inputs after it has been set up to display some vectors particularly if you've assigned a Gradient Preview, the preview still exists in the Viewport. This isn't a big deal for usability, but I have noticed that it tends to bog down the graphics of GH/Rhino with these "stuck" vectors.

The Gradient issue has been around since at least 0.9.0006...thanks for continuing to comment on it, would be nice to have it functioning as before!

-Tree Statistics = Awesome! Just what we were after.

-Vector XYZ: Has no default values - is this intentional? (Saw update log noted a fix for rectangles)

-Python Editor: Not sure if this is GH or GHPython's department, but right clicking to show code input is glitchy. The object starts to change shape to accommodate and then immediately goes back to its previous shape.

-Vector Display: No Gradient Option?

Probably some day. Gradients needs some love to make them more robust and easier to implement. Once that is done I think I can find lots of places to add a dash of colour.

Hi David,

Thanks again. Did you perhaps have a look at the issue described here:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/bug-curve-plane-intersect...

I can't find a release note about that.

All the best

would it be possible to make the viewport preview of preview-disabled components mid-solution a preference? An old definition that continuously updates geometry based on a timer shows an annoying, repetitive cycling as the definition continually recalculates in the current release. Before it gave the appearance of a relatively smooth, continuous animation.

Hi David,

Thanks for this new release! Some issues I noticed :

-Curve|Plane intersection does not work if the first plane does not intersect the curve.

-Sort Along Curve does not work anymore.

Found both bugs and fixed them. There will be another release someday soon.

Thanks for reporting.
