GH file dialog disappears after disconnecting second monitor...

this is no GH problem this is a typical Problem if you work with two Monitors and you didn't disconnected the right way....

Hm. Tell me the correct way to disconnect because I've never had this problem with any other software. Perhaps it's just that I don't use other software the way I use Grasshopper...

Anyway, what I do now is make sure I've moved the GH dialogs back to screen one before disconnecting. I am using a Dell dock so I just pop the computer off the dock without warning. If there's a simpler/better solution by all means let me know.

The way it works for me is to disconnect it before i shut down my laptop so that windows recognize the new setup

Hi Marc,

I did add some smarts to the Grasshopper window manager to make sure windows are never displayed outside the desktop bounds. It's possible there are bugs in this code, this is typically one of those scenarios that doesn't get tested very often.

You can reset the the Grasshopper window position and size by manually editing the settings files. These files are stored in the Roaming Application data folder, most likely somewhere about here:

C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper

Close Rhino + Grasshopper.
Open up the grasshopper_kernel.xml file in any text editor.
Delete the entries called "DocEditor:Location" and "DocEditor:Size".
You can also delete the whole xml file if you don't mind all settings reverting to default.

Hi Marc,

this trick helped me a couple of times (also outside Grasshopper):

on most versions of Windows, Alt+Space (do not leave the alt key) opens a context menu on almost every window, specifically on the one that is currently on top.

Then, on English systems if I remember correctly, pressing M (for move) and then using the Left arrow will help you fix the position. On Italian systems, S ("Sposta") will do the same. If you are in doubt, you can try with any other window (for example folder explorer) and test the key combination. On the context menu it appears as the underlined letter.
