Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

can anyone please explain me why, the component divide domain2 + isotrim works when i have lofted circles (lofted in z direction); whereas the same definition doesn't work when i replace circle with any polygon, say for this instance a pentagon?...when i explode the brep in that case divide domain does not give any error but isotrim truns to orange, and i do not get the desired result...can any-1 help?

I'm confused here...

Thank you

Kia ora Agneesh,

The Data Structure of the two inputs for the IsoTrim Component don't match. You need to separate the Faces from the BRep explode component by Grafting them on to individual Branches. Look in the image below and see that the output of F.explode is 1 branch with 6 items and the output of S.domain is 6 branches. Mis match this is also indicated with the lines in Fancy Wire mode (a View Menu option). Single line = Single Item of data; Double Line = Multiple Items on single Branch; Double Dashed = Single or Multiple Items on Multiple Branches.

Solution Graft the Input to S.IsoTrim with either the context menu option or the graft component.

PS is that Shark Cage at Kelly Tarlton's on your Profile Image?

Kia Ora Danny,

First of all, where u from? it is very rare to find a kiwi into algorithmic design...it is very exciting to knw if u r frm NZ.

Secondly, thank you very much for your solution, i shall try this and let you knw if it works (i.e. if i have not mucked it up again).

Now, as you've explained me the fancy wire mode...does that mean that for any given components the wires connecting to the input of that component should resemble in appearance? i.e. in this case both the inputs for isotrim should either be single lines, or double lines or double borken?

P.S: it's not a shark cage, its just the way (angle + distance) i have taken the photograph. It was clicked in Sydney aquarium. I had to practically wait for close to 1 hour to get a perfect shot. In-short this is not the real thing ;-). However, this photograph is 100% raw, i.e it hasn't been worked upon in photoshop or any other photo-editing software.

I'm not a kiwi but my wife is and she's a jaffa. We live in the Isle of Man at the moment which is where I have settled for now, but NZ could be on the cards soon.

I did the Shark Cage swim at Kelly Tarlton's last February when we were last there and I've got the t-shirt to prove it :) I have several shots like that but from in the water!

Champion!!! it works. thanks mate!!!.

Ha ha ha ha...Jaffa...i reckon its the termed coined by its poor cousins out of jelesousy

;-D

the shark cage must be awesome!!!
