algorithmic modeling for Rhino

GH does not want to utilize curves for loft / messes up order

Hi

Grasshopper gives me a hard problem to solve.
I created curves via offset and move.
I selected the right order.

But Grasshopper does not want to loft them.

First image shows the third curve is skipped.


Second images shows the skipped curves later loft with
other curves which were skipped as well.


Whats going on here?

I have no idea on how to work round here.

Hi guys.
I think i´m going crazy or something is wrong with my laptop.
I tested claas definition, and tried to do what i mentioned earlier.
Here are some picks.


here we have claas definition, i just plugged a panel component for each curve
you can see
top 0,0,0
mid 0,0,0
lower 0,0


here, i added a graft componet to the lower curve, you can see all the curves are at 0,0,0 now


then connected the 2 curves and the graft componet to one loft component


and...the loft is working....creating a srf with the 3 curves.
maybe this this not the correct way to do this, but is working

on the other hand, i´m also waiting for primer v.3 as Luis said!
tree structure is very handy, but for me has been really tricky....more documentation would be helpful

yep that works as well, not sure what the Graft Tree is doing but
hopefully primer v3 will shed some light on that ;)

I might go with flattening the inputs as a main option to work with
since that also applies to boolean operations for surfaces to fuse
them together.

Otherwise the students will get crazy ...
Grafting is making a new path per item on a list. I would suggest to NOT avoid trees...force yourself to use them...otherwise, you are not using the data management in GH to its full potential. That being said, depending on the situation, flattening makes sense (analyzing a bunch of geometry in a list).

Class, are you teaching GH? If so, where?
I teach Grasshopper besides other applications Rhino T-Spline Blender SolidThinking here at the Kendall College of Art and Design in Industrial Design.

I understand what you mean with the data structure, I fully agree.
But the amount of work to put in, in contrast to what we do, compared to Rhino
promotes the flattening tool in that case.

Keep in mind that the students are in their First CAD class so I teach using GH and Rhino based on their level !
