algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I always wanted to ask how the verification is going when someone creates an algorithm or a component in GH. So, all things are given to create a powerful tool for any calculation in any industry however liability is always can be a question.

I assume, in case of Karamba, developers are using Eurocode just because the location of the Group. However I have not seen on the website any documentation referring to industry or national standards which would be important, I think. Is yhis kind of documentation available to download somewhere?

Hello Onrender,

most analysis in Karamba is independent of national codes like e.g. Eurocode (e.g. calculation of deflection, stresses,...).

Cross section design in Karamba is based in Eurocode 3 because it makes use of a simplified procedure in order to take account of buckling of beams. The applied procedure is described in the annex of the manual. Alternative design procedures will probably be included in future releases of Karamba.

As most national codes descend from an international model code (like e.g. CEB-FIP 1990) they have all a common foundation. So chances are high that a structure designed according to EC3 will also pass the design criteria of other codes.

Best,

Clemens

Thanks for the answers,

Finally I found some explanations in the Manual about the codes implemented.

Also found this Doc for another analysis software that provides a book of examples comparing theory and software results. I think, this kind of benchmark / test documentation would be useful for a representation of the common tasks for the potential users.

(Currently looking for the way how to implement structural analysis in rhino workflow and several application has just come up to check and compare.)
