Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all please find attached my problem definition, currently located on the naughty stair.

Its a working canvas, apologies. The section highlighted in blue is the issue.

I have been generating sections based on mirroring geometry, there is logic in how they were generated based on known comstraints.

I'm puzzled in how the poly curves 3No. have been generated in the join curves as list cmd.

My plan was to isolate the sub sets, data split with the horizontal line with an intersect curves cmd CCX and then combine the segments into a new section that is generated from the intersection of the cut line shown on th attached sketch, numerically 650 from the base.

Any ideas on how to order the segments and poly curves to make this a little less complex.

The aim was to:

  • generate half section, with 650mm as a horizontal construction line
  • mirror geometry to get a section
  • use horizontal construction line to split poly curves
  • combination of sub set and split tree to get new geometry

The poly curves generation appears a little odd from the join curves as list cmd

Kiaora, all, amended definition, on the canvas section in Lt blue, scribble note identifier.

Geometry is quite unsophisticated and not elegant in the slightest.

Some of the dimensions are constrained by manufacture hence the top down approach, i was keen to add detail in the form of chamfers and rebates for completeness.

Advice on how to improve the geometry would be appreciated, I have an additional question wrt curves orientation to get consistent curves, surfaces, objects etc. Should the hierarchy of specifying say lines or curves follow along the local x axis eg. all commnets appreciated.

Kenyon
