I've solve my problem!tnks!

Hello all,
First, thanks for the wonderful tool you guys developed. I am a beginner in grasshopper as well as GecoGh and enjoying/struggling with these powerful plug-in.
I have a problem with insolation calculation component.
I wanted to run different types and metrics of insolation calculation, but keep having some problem which I can't figure out any solution for.
The attached file has a room with glazing at front and I want to run solar access test on glazing surface. In insolation calculation component, as you know, there are different options to select;
Available insolation calculations [C], and Metrics [M].
The problem is that in the attached file I found no matter what I chose between 'Incident solar radiation on Points & Surface' and 'Solar Absorption/Transmission of Object Surfaces' in [C], or between 'Total incident Radiation' and 'Total Absorbed Radiation' or 'Total Transmitted Radiation' in [M], The resulted values fed back from Ecotect to grasshopper seemed always to be 'Incident solar radiation'.

Would you be kind enough to take a look at the file and see what my problem may be?
I've used version

GH08.0050

Rhino 4 SR8

geco v1.025

Thank you so much!

Hi Joo Suk,

Thank you for your post and your feedback, very much appreciated!

So one problem in your definition is that you are calling the wrong ID numbers. So the color you are applying to the glazing mesh are the one from the walls. After correcting this fault everything will work fine. Take a look on the attached file and images.

Also be aware about exporting the mesh. with your settings you are creating again and agin the shading geometry inside the file when you change something

cheers,

Hi guys,

It is hardly to belive me that this subject wasn`t discussed till now but I can`t find an answer.

It seems to be easy task - I want to connect the size of overhang with galapagos and chack which size is optimum, but i can`t find a way how to get only the values from the window (i.e. direct solar radiation) by changing the size of the overhang?

Thanks

Hi,

two meshexport components

one for windows and deselected in ecotect after export

one for the overhang with [n] set to 1

but be aware that your solution will just try to enlarge the overhang as much as possible until no sun reaches the window anymore. You will have to come up with a design-criteria to get something out of it

Hi to],

Firstly, thank you for the amazing geco components!

Secondly I am using the 'shadow studies interior' example file and I am wanting to calculate the total area of the internal shadows. I have switched the 'change shadow' boolean toggle to false so that the shadows are now coming out as a planar surfaces projection. Then I attempted to use the 'trim with region' component to trim the shadows to the inside of my room. This worked for trimming the curve, but then I couldn't create new trimmed planar surfaces to calculate the area of the interior shadows.

Any ideas on how to set up the definition so I can calculate the total area of the shadows projected into the interior space?

Thanks

Hi, uto.
I have a question about the component EcoWeaFile.
I can't set up the wea file to this component.
please help!!

Best.

Hi,

please download the newest release of geco. There was a change in the GH SDK so we had to adapt it accordingly

best

thanks. I'll try!!

Hi! For a school project we need to analyse our surfaces in Ecotect and we are using Geco, but we are having several problems that we can't fix...

1) Why are most of the results in our analysis blue? Supposedly we fixed the normals and they are all already pointing to the sky...

2) We can't get the analysis to return to Geco! We've already tried refreshing the toggle but it still doesn't work, and we need the results back to apply some panels.

3) We also have some buildings in the site and it would be great for them to affect our results, but we don't want Ecotect to analyse them as well, is it possible?

Please help us! I'm uploading a print screen of the results. I tried uploading the rhino site and the definition but couldn't, is there an email where I can send these files?

Dear Dany,

I assume that you are working with Nurbs surfaces. If this is the case you have to transpose(flip uv) the surfaces to flip the surface normals.

If you join the mesh you will get properly better results but need more afterwork like closest point on  mesh to get the right color feedbacked from to analysis.

It is possible to run the analysis just on selected surfaces. For that you have to export the environment and the to analyzed object separately. First the environment than the object. After that you have to go threw the solar analysis manually mode in ecotect. Activate the toggle for just selected object and start it once and stop it with escape button on the keyboard(sorry for that process but autodesk has a bug in the engine so that we still can not access that feature without this).

Afterwards just select the object and start the process in GH and geco.

for getting in contact just send me an email @ to.from.uto@gmail.com

Hi!I have the same problem with Dany.Should I export the two parts of model by Geco component step by step or first export the enviroment manually and then the object to analyze? I try these two ways but they seem to not work successfully. If I export the environment meshes manually first and then go threw the solar analysis manually mode in ecotect, there is nothing effect feed back to Geco.If I export all of them with Geco, just like the example "Geco_DaylightStudies_MeasuringPoints_GH08" ,the environment meshes seem to have no affect on the object to analyze.

The project I need to analyze is a renovation in crowded surroundings.I make a simple test file first. Could you give me some advice?
