Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am trying to use Galapagos to change my building based on overall building area required. I have the definition set up but I cannot figure out how to get Galapagos to work correctly, I am new to Galapagos. Basically I want to input the desired overall building floor area and have Galapagos adjust the floor sizes to equal my total. So it is using only one genome. Can anyone help me to set it up correctly or tell me what I am missing.

Hi Michael,

If you compute the absolute difference between the desired value and the current value you can use it as the fitness criteria (have Galapagos minimize it):

it will work, but in this particular case using Galapagos is overdoing it.

It would be more interesting to have G. adjust more genomes at once. Also if for example you'd make the floor boundaries varied in shapes, the job for the evolutionary solver would not be so trivial.

thanks, My plan is to complicate it further with the things you say, just trying to get a start.

what is threshold for?
