Or a simple GH definition as an example on how to use it

Just try typing "grasshopper galapagos" into Google, the first link to video will give you what you want.

thanks smarty

Dbl-Clk the Galapagos component.  In the first panel that appears make sure that Fitness is set to 'Minimize'.  Click on the Solvers Tab and then click on Start Solver.  Let the solver run for a bit and you'll see that the values start to level off.  Stop the solver when you've gotten a value that is within your tolerance of acceptability.  In this example Galapagos is looking for the circle radius that will give a circle area equal to the area of the square.  The Fitness function is comparing the two areas and Galapagos is looking at the minimum difference between them.  You can hook the Genome to as many sliders as you want but you can only have one Fitness function which must feed into a Parameter component before being connected to Galapagos.

Actually, in this case when you click on Start Solver a message box will pop up with the following text: "Seriously just use pi r squared."

Of course but it's not about the actual solution.
