Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Anyone else having a font missing error?  I definitely have Arial installed in my fonts, yet GH doesn't seem to be recognizing it.  On Win7 64-bit, Rhino 4.

Marc,

what happens when you pick Arial from the font browser? I realize you already accepted some mapping, so to undo your currently defined Font mappings:

1) Start Grasshopper
2) Open the Grasshopper Settings Folder through the Grasshopper menu (File -> Settings Folder...)
3) Close Grasshopper and Rhino
4) Delete the file called grasshopper_fontmap.xml from the settings folder.
5) Restart Rhino + Grasshopper.

You should be asked again for a Font mapping. This time click on the proposed mapping link and pick Arial from the font list.

Please post a screenshot of the Font Browser dialog with the your Arial font selected.

When I pick Arial Regular it spits me back to the error dialog. I am able to select Arial Narrow for some reason. Same problem with Courier New, except it only works with Courier New Bold. Finally, no flavor of my Times New Roman is accepted. I have to pick Times New Roman MS to get through the error dialogs. As you might guess, I'd be better off selecting other fonts... :P

I might add that I was able to get it to accept Courier New Regular, but in 10pt instead of 8pt. It looks like there are some font options that are OK with GH and others that are not. Don't know if this is a particularity of my system and/or the way the fonts are set up in the OS... we are using a corporate win7 image here at work. Haven't had this problem at home.

Thanks,
Marc
Thanks for testing. So it's safe to say at this point that Grasshopper cannot deal with certain font settings for certain fonts on certain machines, while the same fonts with different settings work fine on the same machine, and the same fonts with the same settings work fine on a different machine?

I'll need to digest this a bit, I'll probably write some custom VB components for you tomorrow that will hopefully allow me to home in on this issue.
