algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I am trying to produce a section of a double helix which can be repeated in modules.

I have successfully modelled the helix, however I had thought the period of a helix was 2*pi.

I am hoping to pipe the helix and then cut it into repeatable modules. Given the end of the pipe I am thinking I will have to produce 3 complete revolutions and use only the central one

Could anyone help with finding the correct module (period) of a helix please?

Many thanks all

Hi.

Is this what you are after?

 Simple method....

Hello all,

Thanks for the replies.

Its not exactly what I was meaning. Please see attached image - i hope this will more clearly explain.

I am hoping to end calculating the module shown right

This image is not a true representation as I had to rotate the three individual elements as I cannot work out where exactly to cut the helix to obtain one turn / pitch .... (that feels like a good explanation of my aim)
