feature request - 2d HUD overlay and inkmode/better display of coplanar and transparent surfaces

The requests I'm making may be sort of tangential to what GH is really used for but I have come into a scenario where I wish the software had some functionality I am not seeing.

One - a HUD display feature (see attached image) that would overlay most likely textual information in a 2d overlay that would not change, regardless of what was happening in terms of the 3d viewpoint in the display window. I suppose one could arrange this with side by side view ports, one a perspective window showing the geometry and the other, one for statistical information. But it would be really great if it were possible to overlay the two.

Two - I have always been both grateful and annoyed with the way coplanar surfaces are rendered - they reveal themselves, which is useful in many cases but also create a distraction, a problem in others. I am working on some solar analysis and I would like to see shadows that lay one atop the other NOT have the noise associated with the display of coplanars and EVEN BETTER would be if you could have "ink modes' as in adobe suite's ability to control additive display of colours...I dont know if that makes sense...

if anyone has any suggestions about interim solutions, I would appreciate hearing them!

thanks so much

Hi Gabriel,

as for the HUD wish, you want something like TextTags but be able to define them in viewport screen coordinates instead of world coordinates?

@David, sounds good!
Exactly

yes, sounds really amazing - was dreaming about it for a while.

it will be even cooler to have a possibility to render some 2d graphics also (gradient legends vor example)

Hi Gabriel,

If you download the Horster plug-in from here http://www.food4rhino.com/project/horstercamcontrol

you can get access to some active viewport information and then create some planes to put 3d text tags on.

Note it uses the time to continually update, if it doesn't work as expected you might need to unblock the timer.

Thanks! Looks perfect.

how are these planar surfaces blending together without "noise":

I would say there is a transparency to the material

yeah, you would think it's as easy as that. I get a sort of flickr and unevenness. Mind you in a straight up top view it looks fine...
Hi Gabriel, have you seen "analisyskey" by LMNts/scrawford ?
