Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all, hi Giulio

Extremely interesting your work on catmull-clark. (no more maya for a while)
I wanted to do a very simple extrude, so I offseted the mesh, and build the walls.
But using both Serpinski o frame, I'm having problems later with mesh union node.
Mainly because I'm building the walls using surfaces and then rebuilding meshes!, which i guess is completely wrong, because it is losing all the vertex and face info..and because it's really not performant

do you have any idea for doing it better?

thanks!

i hope there will be an update soon

thanks!
Hi Enrique,

there's now a compatible version here: http://www.giuliopiacentino.com/weaverbird/. It also has a couple of improvements,

WOW!
just opened!
absolutely amazing
thanks a lot
cannot wait to try everything
i'll feedback as soon as possible.
Hi Giulio!

The new release is working really smooth.
But now we were wondering if you have any trick to "thicken" a wireframe, in order to generate an errorless STL file to print.
The classic boolean union of tubes and spheres, is always giving errors.

If you might consider we can open a new post for the topic of generating printable files, out of wireframe skeletons.

Thanks a lot.

Enrique
Hi Enrique,

sure, maybe opening a new thread in "Discussions" might help. Could you narrow a bit your design intention?

- Giulio
Yeah!, it's done.
My mate Pep Tornabell did it.
We both, are looking for ways of printing STL out of "thickened" wireframe skeletons.
(and normally, boolean operations with tubes and spheres are not neat enough) see you there!
