Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi community,

This may be an easy script but I am having a tough time starting. I intend to extrude the spine of a chair to a different thickness at different points. It's a simple shape that starts at one dimensions and then gets thicker in the middle before returning to it's original thickness. I am guessing I would just define the points in rhino and set grasshopper to extrude to them. Here is an image of the file. I am new to grasshopper sorry if this is very simple.

My first thought for a variable extrusion would be to:

1) deconstruct the spline [Control Points] into points and weights and knots

2) apply a transformation along a vector to each point where the amplitude for each transformation is variable and defined by a function

3) reconstruct the now moved points with [NurbsCurve]

4) Loft the original with the new. (Or do the transformations in the opposite direction and loft the two moved curves for symmetry.)
