algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello,
I'm trying to extrude a curve along a cosine curve. that was not a problem with grasshopper nevertheless I don't find the tool which give me the possibility to keep the curve always perpendicular to the rail...
I hope that someone knows a way to do that.
thx

Ah ok! I thought it was a 2d problem.
anyway the file.

Dedackelzucht, I don't know why but I cannot open your GH file...
I added my own section curve, but it would still work for 2D.
Ok i will download the new version.
otherwise I've found a way to devise my surface, I apply translate many curves at different locations and I loft them. the drawback is I have to build multiple 'base' curves to reach the curve rail
I apply translate many curves at different locations and I loft them
You don't have to loft them. You can just put these curves into the Sweep1 Component as Section Curves. Have a look at my image above again. I only added two components to your definition Horizontal Frames and Orient. Horizontal Frames creates the location to translate the base curve to and Orient does the translation. Sweep1 is still using your rail curve
why do you think sweep is better? find attached an update of my file.
It doesn't make any difference to me, but because you keep referring to a rail curve, I thought you would like it to follow your rail curve and Loft will only approximate the curve unless you have a huge amount of sections.
I updated my GH, could you please send me your previous GH file?
because I think your idea has a better robustness regarding the curve rail. indeed, with my model I can easily loft for a circle but if I have a freeform(not a circle) that doesn't work with my model.
Welcome to
