Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey,

 

sry iam new to grasshopper so maybe this is an easy question to you. I searched on the whole homepage for a solution but i couldnt find one. I want to extrude a plate which is created automatically and depends on an object i choosed before. It is easy to describe the problem just look at the picture i attached :) then everything is clear ( i hope so ).

 

It would be great if anyone could help me :D

The easiest way to do this would be using the 'Ribbon' command directly in Rhino. But if you must do it in Grasshopper, I think the screenshot below should do the trick!

maybe the lines are a little bit confusing so i will try to explain again. the black line is a surface i created automatically and now i want to extrude this surface to a defined wall thickness. i try to explain my problem in the next picture. actually i use the "extrude along one vector" fuction but it doesnt work on any surface.

i hope you understand my problem now.

if i open the file with an editor there are only thousands of symbols no programming code

You'll need 0.8.0050 to open the file. It won't work on previous versions.

I installed Rhino 5 and the newest Grasshopper update to try your programm.

I dont know if it looks the same on your computer but on mine it looks like on the screenshot.

i hope you can help me.

 

 

For some reason the file has opened up without the post-process Graft functions on the two Wires Components. You can either Right click on each W and select Graft or do the same thing on the S input of Loft. This should fix it.

 

EDIT: it should look like this (if you can ignore the Icon View)

Hey, it seems to work now but it isnt exactly that what iam searching for because i need a closed volume. at the first picture you can see the programm written by you, so you can see how it works on my computer.

The second picture shows a simple sample of what iam trying to reach. you can see that it isnt a single surface it is a multiple surface and changes every time. my problem is on the curved part, there the wall thickness isnt constant, because i only extrude along one vector.

 

i hope you understand where my problem is.

 

 

 

I'm sorry I led you astray the Graft on the Input will not work. You will have to do it on the W outputs like the image.

 

But personally I would do it by:

1) offsetting the curve.

2) Lofting the Orig curve to Offset Curve

3) Extrude Lofted surface

i dont know why but i cant chose this option on the output.
