algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the command expression of offset curve.
In the attachment there are green original circles that will provide an offset curves.
I want to offset on the both sides so I created 2 separate offset curve command. Then I changed the expression value on the lower offset box as -D to make the reverse direction. But it doesnt offset on the both side it just creates overlapped offset circles instead of the inner to the circle center direction..
I was watching on the tutorial but in the video there was no problem when you include -D in the expression value box. So are there any mistakes that i make or should i use a different way maybe the video was made in old version so there could be a newer way to do that..
Thanks for your help !!

use -x instead of -D Bora.
yes it works thank you very much but why it didnt work with -D as in the video that i saw.
Is it if the command line changed or a bug ?
Probably it's a bit older tutorial. That behaviour changed about a year ago, now all expressions use 'x' as a variable instead of the parameter ...
Btw what if i want to make these circles as a tube extrusion but different variety of heights, individually.
I mean maybe i can put some "BOUNDS" as a limit to the heights and these tubes can be arranged as higher from the outer tube to the inner tube.
Or maybe i can put a graph for making these tubes as they gain the random heights. Like a drop effect on the water (wavy)
Which command should i use for this concept. I was playing with extrusion z direction vector with putting "REMAP" and "RANGE" command but it tries to replicate all of it as sequences to the z direction which I don't want it.
This will be tricky but hope you would figure it out a way to do this.. I attached my file and you can look what i'm trying to do.. :)
Yea i think that should be it.. Damn i should buy some really good book to learn all the details of this stuff. Would you recommend any books ?
