Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi All,

I want to take a mesh that has color attributed and import it into Max for rendering.  Is there anyway to do this?

If I can't bring it into Max, is there a way to render it directly in Rhino with the default renderer?

Thanks!

Hi Joseph,

export it as obj or iges and you can use it in 3dsmax.

cheers

Thanks!

will it retain the colors?

yes, if you use vray you have to use a vertexshader

ok, is this built into max?  I usually use mental ray

you do not know vray 2.0?

you can also use mental ray --> same thing

ok great I will try it out after I get my meshes.

Thanks!

Hi to],

Could I use vray for rhino to rend these color ?

sorry, vray for rhino has currently no vertex-shader yet

OK,Thanks for the info..

Brazil for Rhino does have a vertex color shader.

Also, if you search on these forums I posted a while a go a script that will create a bitmap file out of mesh vertex colors, you can then use this image in a vray material.

Hi all,

sorry, but I have to veto.

It is possible when you use Giulio Piacentinos C# bakeAttributes Component from his webpage corner Grasshopper tools in C#.

Here is an example where I used it to render the solar analysis with V-Ray for Rhino on an example shape.

For the analysis I used Ecotect and Geco.

Best,

Martin.
