algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,

Can anyone give me some indications on how to crate an evolving (morphing) diamond-shaped grid something like in the sketch below? I'm doing some studies on a façade and I want to get something like the Zaha's tower in Bucharest. First I would like to create a grid that changes the scale towards the top and second if this will be possible, I would like to make variations in sections and in form (the idea is to have a thicker section of the grid at the bottom and smaller at top).  Best,

Zaha's Tower can be seen as an inner shape with a cosmetic drape over it.

So I create a generic tower using the blue panel, lofting Bottom, Middle and Top curves.

Then create two or more XY planes (four in this case) that intersect the tower.  Add the ability to move the seam on those intersection curves (plus and minus both!).  Divide the curves and interpolate the points.

Then 'Pull Curve (Pull)' to original tower surface.

Sorry, forgot to attach code - see next post.

Hey Laurent, thanks a lot for the help, sure it's useful! I will try this as soon as I get home and get back with feedback.

To see how this model works, the 'Seam' sliders must all be reset to zero.  Then experiment with adjusting one or two at a time to see what happens.

Wow Joseph, I'm so impressed by the amount of help you are giving me here. Thanks a lot, it's exactly what I needed. I will try this as soon as I get home. BIG BIG BIG THANKS! I will get back with feedback on this.

This is an example of a tool whose parameters can be played with quite a bit for many different effects.

Adding substance to the lines...

Hy Joseph, I just tryied the definition and it works like a charm! Thanks a lot for your help. I wonder if this could be translated easily into a single plane? Like instead of having the grid on the form of the tower just beying able to adapt it onto a single adjustable plane.

Hi George, did you manage to do this? I am trying to achieve the same thing at the moment....
