Equal triangles distribution on non-planar surface (diagrid)?

Hi guys,

I intended to create equal triangles distribution (diagrid) on non-planar surface with GH.

I've been tried it with paneling plugins, but it's not worked for nonplanar surface. It gave me triangles with different angle.

I also tried it with Kangaroo plugin, in this post, but unsuccessfully.

Any ideas, how should I start from?

I attached the base surface file

Thanks before

You base surface in the grasshopper file is flat. That should be easy then. But you said your surface is non planar, but what kind of non-planar, because if its a freeform geometry you can't have a single panel to cover the whole thing unless you accept gaps. If it's a single curvature, or a regular double curve (like perfect sphere pieces) then it is still possible to use a single size panel.

Hi Jesse,

You are right, that isn't non planar geometry.

I hope I can minimize the gaps, at least they have a same angle with different size.

I'll keep digging it with Kangaroo, I know I can make it, like Daniel Piker made this and the folded one.

Thanks

You might want to give the SmartForm Plugin a try. It will do your diagrid easily. I would suggest the SmartGrid tool, and maybe the SmartClustering tool

Thank you, that's awesome plugin
