Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I'm new to Grasshopper/Rhino and would like to know if/how it could solve the following problem.

Given a graph, a set of nodes (vertices) with corresponding edges. Assume the nodes are numbered 1 to n. Given some arrangement of these nodes, I would like to place them on a straight line and draw lines below them showing how these nodes are connected. In the file attached, the top picture is a graph, and the bottom one is some arrangement, with lines drawn below to represent connections. I want to use Grasshopper to draw the bottom one.

In other words,

INPUT: Graph, Arrangement

OUTPUT: Drawing of the n nodes in order of arrangement and lines below showing connections.

Assume the graph is very large, i.e n greater than 1000. Thus drawing the connections one at a time is impractical.

Thanks.

Hello,

Not so sure what the question is here however but maybe spiderWeb plugin can help you.

Since you put this in the C#/VB/Python forum, I'm assuming you're looking for a programmatic solution.

I attached a C# script which generates the diagram (though the order of connecting lines is different within each arrangement block).

Thanks David, that helps!
