Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hey everyone i was just wondering if there is a definition floating around that divides a surface by dimensions.  i am working with this panel system and i would like to divide the boundary surfaces to fit 3'x6' panels.  and would it be possible to rotate this grid?  lack of sleep has left me brain dead and i cant get anything to work.  any help would be appreciated

I would use the Divide by length component on the edge curves and then find CP on srf to get the UV values to split the surface up.

Sorry I missed the part about rotation. I would achieve this with Sub dividing a larger surface that is rotated and then split with your original surface.

The trick is selecting the split surfaces within the original surface

wow thank you!  its a very good script in general, i think its something a lot of people will fine useful.  is there another add-on which has the polygon center component?  i am using 8.0010 but i cannot find it.

It's in Curve analysis

am i missing something?  i have the newest version, still no component in there

well this could be the problem...why the heck are all the assemblies failing to load??

Hi Aaron,

I still don't know what in my plugin might prevent "native" grasshopper from loading but it can occur when updating Grasshopper.  Can you try uninstalling my plugins from control panel, possibly reinstalling grasshopper and testing it?  Then reinstalling my plugins and see if all is ok.

I'm happy to help investigate further if this doesn't resolve it.

Cheers,

Jon

In the mean time until you get to the bottom of this. You could substitute with the BRep Explode and Average Components to get the same result.

hey thanks got it.  and if my surface isn't planar how can i adjust the def to account for it?  ive been messing with it all day and cant seem to get it to work
