Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I've got a query about grasshopper:
At the moment I've created a volume which i want to divide into several segments and then calculate their separate volumes.
But i seem not to be able to divide the main surface by its planer cut surfaces.

In the end i'm trying to evaluate the differences in shape if you change the step size. (compare two volumes, one where the boundary curves are divided in for instance 3 parts and one in which the curves are divided into 100 parts)
so the idea is to find 'the integral' of the difference in shape by combining the boolean difference of all the separate elements and add this together.

I hope this makes sense, and that anyone can help me.

Thanks,

Tijl

the added picture shows a shape which needs to be divided by the green planars and than form separate volumes which can be evaluated separately

Hi Tijl,

I hope this helps getting started.

One thing you need to keep into account is that you cannot in grasshopper reiterate the outputs of a component.

Dear Giulio,

This does solve part of my problems.
But: I'll add my grasshopper code and rhino file here, the idea is to have small sections of each of the segments. this so i can compare these to an other volume. Now the parts grow in the wanted steps to the whole, instead of being small independent volumes..

i'll add an extra rhino file as well in which i show the wanted outcome: this is comparing a cylinder and a box with equal volume, but than know how much they differ in shape. i understand this are new steps not implemented in the grasshopper and maybe i need to start learning the python programming as well, to make this easier.

I hope you understand what i'm looking for!
thanks for the help so far!!

Tijl
