algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi david and everyone,

i am dimitris and i am a post graduated student. i am working my thesis now. i design a sun shade for an office building and i want to connect diva with galapagos such as to have the specific daylight factor inside the building. i dont understand the way that i can create the appropriate definition such as to solve that problem. first of all is that possible? and secondly is there a sample definition such as to understand the sequense of moves? thank you

just unable the cylinders... too heavy to calculate! the def is working... (with only planar surfaces...) beh! inglourious victory...

hey guys, 

great post! i am trying to do something similar that dimitris did, but in a bit simpler way. basically, the aim is to optimize the glazing size according to the orientation and outside obstructions etc.

I'd keep as a minimum ADF 2% or something like that, because i dont find the minimum of 1.5% for the living rooms very comfy in real life. (uk regul.)

Since I am about to desing a high rise, I have modeled just one 'unit' so i could understand easier what it is about.

I must confess i do not clearly understand how did you 'standardized' the ADF value in grasshopper file. I am subtracting the ADF that I am looking for from the ADF that I get from the calculations? But doesnt that give me the ADF that is just reduced for a fixed value that i give as a B value in the subtraction? Huh, i hope you can understand me?  

The other problem I am facing with is to present graphically the ADF results. Since i'm using DIVA 2.0 it is a bit different that 1.9 version :/

I know guys i'm asking much, but I'm a bit lost with what to do, and i think that the solution is quite simple, but i'm missing something...

i will try to upload some screenshots...

i used the F(x)= (x-2)^2 definition to get the results. as x put the mass addition of data results. Try to put a smaller number of nodes (at least at the beginning)because it is very difficult for the solver and it will take days to calculate...  here are some screenshots of the definition... i also took the smallest value and divide that with the ADF. it gives me the uniformity of the daylight inside the room. sorry for my english!

oops, sorry! as x you put the ADF that galapagos calculate... it is the mass addition/num of nodes!

hey buddy, sorry for my late reply, i tried to complicate the stuff a bit more :))

anyway, i think it might be easier to adjust the size of the opening manually in this case because of high number of opening...

its should be like a randomized circle opening facade if you know what i mean
