Diva based solar shading for Facade design

Hello everyone, 

I am trying to create a solar optimized shading panels for facades using diva. I followed this tutorial

the problem is i am trying to create something similar to this image using the nodes output to determine the size of each openining but so far my attempts had failed to create 'rectangular' openings. The tutorial above creates triangular grid panels.

I have found the images below to show what I am trying to do, is there anyway I can adjust the definition in order to create something similar to this or maybe an easier way to do it that you guys know of? 

I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how to do this :)
