Distance selection of surfaces

Hi, I have a mesh, with the vertices, and i found the list of points that are above a certain distance from some specific one point in the group, and now i want to somehow to have a list of all the mesh faces associated with those points... is that possible? i've been trying but to no avail...

Or, for example if I have a mesh in which I managed to turn all the individual mesh faces into surfaces, and I can have them as a list etc., but I want to somehow "contain" all the surfaces that are inside a geometry or inside a curve etc... containment seems to work only for filtering the points you want, not any other kind of object...

Thanks, the code is awesome, but after I cleaned it up a bit to serve me purposes, and applied it to a curved surface as in the image, for some reason the selection of the surfaces is a bit faulty...

I'm thinking I should parameterize or graft some component but i'm not sure...

Is there something I did wrong when cleaning up the code?
