Dispatch based on distance question

I am having a hard time figuring out the best approach to this problem. I have a section of mesh panels that are organized in vertical columns by branch. I want to randomly split these panels into two lists with a proportional fade - left side 50%/50% fades to right side 10%/90%. I thought about using the panel center point Y value, but not sure how. Thanks for any help, Dan.
