Difficulties with Custom Component Output

Does anybody have any advice regarding creating custom components?

My definition is working as I would like it too, but I am having some troubles when I try to turn it into a custom user object.

Everything looks like it should work, but when I try to use the new component I am unable to grab outputs from the actual component. 

I can use the inputs, but not the outputs.

I suspect I am missing something obvious.

Here are the instructions that I have followed:

Making a CLUSTER
Special Menu Pull OUT...
Cluster INput
Cluster OUTPUT
Connect  them where Needed
Name INputs and OUtputs
Select Everything except arrows leading in and out
Right Click- Hit Cluster.
Name input and output
File Menu> Create USer OBject
