Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

im new to grasshopper. Im currently pulling my hair out after spending 3hrs trying to find a very basic example of a diagrid around a cylinder shape. All i want to do is show it with 'piped' lines and im running out of time. Why is it so hard to find a tutorial of this explained huh!

Please can someone help with steps on how to or even better a .ghx file with it done.

Ive attached a simple picture with what im after.

Please help anyone out there.........!?!

Will something like this work?

You can define the height and radius of the cylinder as well as number of spirals and it's radii using the four sliders on the very beginning of the definition.

Sorry to hear that.
It probably has to do with my older version of Grasshopper (I am still using 0.8.0066 and the file has been saved under that version).

Here is the screenshot of the definition, maybe you can build it by yourself by coping the image:

im using 0.8.0010 so that may be why?

Ok well I shall have a go at building it myself. Thank you very much for you help.

I may email later if i get stuck on knowing what things are in the file above.

That may be the reason - you are trying to open a .gh file made with a newer version of Grasshopper.
Download the latest version from here. Uninstall your current 0.8.0010 version and install the one you downloaded.

I think you will be able to open the above attached file then.

No problem, let us know if you get stuck with something.

just updated to new grasshopper latest version and your file opens perfectly:)

once again thank you for your help.

here you go:

http://digitaltoolbox.info/grasshopper-intermediate/

or in general

http://digitaltoolbox.info

There might be some old components in there, but the basic steps are still the same.
