algorithmic modeling for Rhino

designing single surfaces to resemble a half sphere

hey guys, wondering if anyone has an interesting idea on how to approximate complex trimmed surface as a single surface. say I want half a sphere. I can split the edge curve into 4 and build a uv off that. Is there a method for doing something like this? I find myself twisting and turning and morphing single surfaces just in order to match a curvature of a trimmed surface.. Perhaps I'm just not the best Rhino modeler in the world.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I will surely have a look at your plugin. I would have thought it to be a common task as any paramteric operation of a surface requires a single surface while most modeling is either done as polygons or poly surfaces. for this reason I thought about paneling any given freeform surface and approximating the patches as freefor surfaces.. it seems that if you have enough sampling points, and some smoothing, it should be possible, because with in the uv boundary curves almost any curvature can be created.

on that note is it possible to define a surface by boundary curves and many u,v curves? not just 3,4? like specifying a10*10 grid .(given that they share a node connection
