algorithmic modeling for Rhino

definition to find all possibilities for cube compositions

Hi everyone,

I'm making a diagram for my project and i need to make a form library

so I need to make compositions of different number of cubes in an xy plane.

It will be a very long process making them all by hand and there will be of course some missing possibilities.

I made an example in rhino to clear what i mean :

Hi Arian,

These are called polyominoes and it is quite a challenge to write code that will find all the n-ominoes (just think that for 7 cubes you have more than 100 shapes).

Depending on what you want them for and the limits you have for the number of cubes, you might be better off just using a list to draw them all by hand.

In this video you can get an idea of the complexity of the algorithm.
