Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I need some suggestions how to proceed.

Can this be modeled in grasshopper?

The problem

I want to make a series of connecting lines from a datagrid. I need to be able to give a start point from where it will look for the highest value(within the datagrid) within the reach of that point and connect the line

Then again starting from the end point of that line to another point ....etc....etc....  The problem is that i want to be able to change the number of points which it connects also the script would have to remove the already connected points as a possible solution.

Some background

The data grid consists of points in a xy plane these points are the start points for a line in the z direction the z value of this line is environmental and agent system output.

If the number of points connected is not too high it is probably possible, but i looks like you need looping to be able to remove points already connected, if there are more than, say, 10 connected points. I'm quite sure looping is not possible yet (in GH).
What I don't get is this: do you want to start the second line from a point above the XY-plane, and where would the third point than be, in the XY-plane again? Can you supply an image of what you are trying to make?
